Not rated that well on ratebeer, but that's probably because they were expecting something different from Augustiner/Hofbrauehaus good ol' German gitdrunk beer. Which, this? Nailed it. This ain't no hipster-ass IPA hop-rag crap.

Loves me some New Belgium - best all-around brewery I've found so far and their tours are top-freakin'-notch

I'm 31 and I think I had one, once. It was decent.

While the US might be brewing great beer nowadays they don't (yet) have the name, so it's very hard to get any kind of American beer here.

One of the best breweies for sure.

Ranger IPA, Fat Tire Lager, Shift Pale Lager, Rampant DIPA and Helles Summer Lager all get a fair amount of rotation in my fridge. I'm not sure why but I've never done the tour, need to get up there and do it.

Do it. DOOO ITTTT. Schedule the tour so you get to ride the bike and see the other neat cool parts of the brewery you don't see if you're just a walk-in

Bud might be owned by a belgian company, hell, a lot of beer brands are, but it doesn't mean the receipe is belgian. As far as I know it's german cat piss.

They're not even one of the best breweries in Colorado. They shouldn't be allowed to put Belgian on their labels. I've been on a big Great Divide kick lately. They're Colette is a really good ale that has that Belgian sweetness to it.

Owned by Miller, still brewed in L's own factory. Piss water - that's as may be, but it's properly German piss water-tasting piss water - I can attest to this, by having had the cheap Augustiner and Hofbraeuhaus in Muenchen at Biergartens and at the Englischer Garten. FTR, it's much closer to Augustiner than Hofbraeu, but I've had Augustiner less often so can't opine deeply on what the differences are.

It's not amazing, but I got a bunch of it for cheap, and I'd drink it over Miller/Busch/Bud any day. Not over Paulaner Hefeweizen, that's true, nor Hacker-Pschorr, but it *is* a distinctly German style, whatever the quality. I'd drink it over Spaten, but that's because Spaten isn't a one size fits all. Franziskaner - depends on if it's gone off or not: the stuff seems to vary wildly.
